Basically a UM3x/UM PRO 30 with more pronounced bass

As stated, the UM PRO 50 is basically the UM3x/UM PRO 30 with more pronounced bass. The extra bass does take some getting used to coming from anything else in Westone's UM line-up. Don't get me wrong--the bass is just as tight as what one would normally expect from Westone's universal monitors but it is far more pronounced than what I suspect many UM1/2/3x users are going to be used to. That being said, this is in no way a criticism of the UM Pro 50. The clear and precise highs and the warm lush mids (especially when it comes to female vocals) that many Westone fans have come to expect from their IEMs are still there. (In fact, I'm hearing some things on my George Michael tracks that I didn't with my UM3x.)

As far as value goes, who are we kidding--this is audiophile stuff. Most people don't drop more than 200 bucks on earphones (let alone close to a thousand). That being said, however, this is really quite a good deal considering that Westone's famous ES5 goes for a good chunk more change.
